As kids, we all learn that we shouldn’t talk to strangers, and you most certainly shouldn’t be getting into cars with them either. However, that’s exactly what I did when I hung out with Adam for the second portrait of this stranger series.
This project is kicking off with back to back Adams. Both 001 Adam and 002 Adam go way back. This Adam is an outdoor junky that loves the cowboy lifestyle aesthetic and also happens to be a film shooter.
One clear take-away from this session was the reaffirming of how much of an indoors person I am. You almost have to drag me out of the house to do anything these days. Work from home and curbside pickup (AKA me living my best life) are heaven sent. Yet, this project is all about collaboration between me and a bunch of strangers. So on this day, we met up and drove out to one of Adam’s favorite spots overlooking the Salt River.
Was it hot? Yes
Did I have to do a little hiking? Also yes.
Did I almost bring home a wild pet by accident? Yep

Q&A
Rick: Tell me about your go-to coffee drink at the moment.
Adam: At the moment… Cortado
Rick: Describe who you are in a single sentence.
Adam: I would describe myself as an adventurer.
Rick: How would your best friend describe you?
Adam: My best friend would describe me as honest, funny and loyal
Rick: Tell me about working with FGL
Adam: The Florida Georgia Line gig was amazing. My buddy Ben Christensen (who is an amazing photographer/director) hit me one day asking if I wanted to shoot BTS for the band and I said “ABSOLUTELY!”. The first week, we stayed at an awesome beach house overlooking the ocean where we filmed 4 music videos. The second week, they gave us a tour bus. We traveled all throughout Florida and Georgia where we shot 4 more music videos. The best part about it was we were all having a great time together, meeting new people and traveling to places I’ve never been before. The worst part about it was feeling every single bump in the road when you’re in the bunk bed. It’s not everyday you get to do something like this. Great experience!
Rick: What are you really good at?
Adam: Holding a camera and capturing moments
Rick: Tell me about a quality you admire in others.
Adam: I admire patience and compassion with the people I surround myself with.
Rick: What do you wish people knew about you?
Adam: Not really something I wish people knew about me but I cannot see my own blood. I will pass out.
Rick: Here’s a time machine, but it’s stuck in reverse. So you can only go back in time, and once you set the date, that’s it! That’s the only day you can visit. You can go back and forth to that date as many times as you want.
What day do you set and why?
Adam: I wish I could go back to the Ancient Egyptian days. I would love to see how they built the Pyramids 🛸
A huge thanks to Adam for being a cool guy and getting me out of the house for a while.

Fun fact: I grabbed the wrong film for this shoot. The roll of Delta 3200 that I shot was supposed to be my “back-up-just-in-case” roll.
